An Integrated approach for fuzzy logistic regression
Aynur ?ahin,Nimet Yap?c? Pehlivan
- , 2018,
Abstract: The aim of this study is to introduced an integrated fuzzy logistic regression approach to describe the relationship between crisp inputs and fuzzy binary output. For this reason, we integrated the fuzzy logistic regression methods proposed by Pourahmad et al. [17] and Sohn et al. [24] to define a possibility measure for each case and then used the logarithmic transformation of possibilistic odds as fuzzy output observations. To estimate the parameters of the fuzzy logistic regression model, Diamond [5]’s Fuzzy Least Squares (FLS) approach is used. A numerical example is presented and obtained results are compared with classic logistic regression model
Prediction of Inner Quality Characteristics of Eggs Using Partial Least Squares Regression
Suna AKKOL
- , 2018,
Abstract: This study was carried out to obtain a prediction model for egg albumen and yolk weight, which are the internal quality characteristics of egg predicted from external quality characteristics of egg. For this purpose partial least squares regression method was applied to the data set used in the study and the results were compared with the principal component regression method. In the partial least squares regression analysis for egg albumen and yolk weight, the number of latent factor was 1 and the determination coefficients were 68.44% and 63.40%, respectively. For the egg albumen weight, the coefficients of determination for the principal component regression with one latent factor were 63.40% and 53.80%. When there is no restriction for the number of factors in the principal component regression, for the egg albumen weight the number of latent factors was five and the coefficients of determination was 79.77%; for the egg yolk weight the values were two and 75.35%, respectively. The results shown that the partial least squares regression method was more effective than the principal component regression method in dimension reduction, and more reliable predictions can be obtained in small sample sets with multicollinearity using the partial least squares regression method
Exchange market pressure index: The case of Turkey
Erhan ?ru?
- , 2019,
Abstract: Central banks intervene to the exchange market in order to reduce volatility of exchange rate or prevent attacks that lead to high volatilities, especially in developing countries. However, each intervention to the exchange market may cause deviation of the value of exchange rate which, is determined by the market. The aim of this study is that calculates pressure on exchange market for Turkey. In this way, exchange market pressure index has calculated by three ways: Girton-Roper, theoretical and model-independent. In this study, the index is constructed according to the theoretical approach. Four equations are employed for deriving exchange market pressure index but estimating two equations, simple money demand function and purchasing power parity, are enough for the calculation of the index. Quarterly data is employed form 1990:01 to 2017:02. Since both equations have an endogenous variable, those are estimated by two stage least square. It is found that especially starting from the last quarter of 1992 to 2002, exchange market pressure index is too high however, after freely floating system was settled then pressure in the exchange market had decreased dramatically. Moreover, this index can be used as a one of indicator for determination of economic crises due to the fact that the volatile the index increased just before each economic and political crisis

Abstract: Correspondence Analysis, which facilitates the interpretation of categorical variables, facilitates the interpretation of similarities, differences and interrelations between the row and column variables in cross tables (compliance table, contingency table, concurrency table, crosstable, correspondence table) and changes of these variables together, is a method that shows graphically in space. It is a very popular method especially in areas where categorical data such as medicine, health sciences, biometrics, economics, marketing and social sciences are needed. Compatibility analysis is also similar to the Principal Component Analysis, Log-Linear and Multi Dimensional Scaling methods. In Turkey 20 years and older 4-type nose for a total of 300 healthy volunteers to demonstrate the profile of the measured range was determined nose type. These; narrow, medium, broad, very broad. Compliance analysis was performed according to the age of these types. As a result of the multiple fit analysis, the first two dimensions of the related variables were 100%. The nasal type was observed to be predominant in the first dimension with a rate of 83.1% and the nasal type with a 16.9% ratio in the second dimension
The Effect of Market Based Competence on the Business Performance: An Application in Turkish Manufacturing Business

- , 2018,
Abstract: The main aim of this thesis is to analyze the marketing based competences in the perspective of research based of view and, in this context to investigate the effects of marketing based competences on the business performance. Big and medium sized enterprises are determined from the list of Turkish manufacturing businesses. The research is done by survey methodology to 500 business managers from the determined list. Analyzed using SPSS 16.0 package program. Partial least squares method is used to test the constructed model and the hypothesis. The validity and the reliability of the scales used in the research is tested and, they both measurement and structural model is analyzed with SMART PLS programme. In this study, it is found that the effect of the marketing based competences on the business performance is direct and positive
Developing of the Mathematical Model to Calculate the Carrot Volume Using the Length and Diameter Data

- , 2019,
Abstract: Carrot is the second most produced vegetable in the world after the potato. Most carrots grown in Turkey are grown in the Ka??nhan? of Konya province. For this reason, in this study, carrots produced in Ka??nhan? were chosen for the application purpose. A total of 464 Nantes carrots were used. The length, volume and diameters by 5 cm intervals of the carrots were measured. Then the volume of the carrots was calculated by the presented method and compared with the actual volumes. The R2 value between the calculated volume and the measured volume for all carrots was found as 0.9. The correlation line between the measured and calculated values has a slope as 1.06 which is very close to the ideal value
Effect of Privatizations on Poverty: A Cross-Country Evidence

- , 2018,
Abstract: Privatization policies are quite controversial. But the academic studies regarding the effect of privatization mostly focus on the firm level performance impacts and the aggregate financial and economic impacts remained relatively untouched. The aim of this study is to contribute to this policy gap by examining how privatization programs affect poverty levels. Using a sample of 83 countries over the 1988-2007 period, our analyses suggest that privatization implementations tend to reduce poverty rates

- , 2018,
Abstract: In this study, the shape parameter of the Frechet distribution is estimated using simple linear regression model. The ordinary least squares (OLS) and robust estimation method M estimator are considered as the estimation method. Simulation study is conducted to compare effectiveness of estimator based on data set with and without outliers. As a result, it is seen from the simulation result that robust estimation method is more effective than the OLS
The Local Geoid Determination Using Least Square Collocation and Kriging Interpolation Methods
Yasemin ???MAN
- , 2018,
Abstract: The local geoid determination applications increased last year depending on satellite technologies in geodesy. Geoid undulation (N), obtained from ellipsoidal height (h) to orthometric height (H) is required for many geodetic and surveying applications. There are some methods for geoid determination like Stokes formulation, Molodensky formulae, Fast fourier transform (FFT) technique, Remove-compute-restore, Least squares collocation approach, Inverse distance, kriging, nearest neighbour, polynomial regression, radial basis function, etc. In least square collocation model, the errors of functional models known as signal can be easily determined. The Kriging interpolation predict the optimum value using the closest data. These approaches can be applied in local geoid determination. In the application firstly, the geoid undulation is calculated from ellipsoidal and orthometric heights. Then, the least square collocation and kriging interpolation methods are used to develop the local geoid surface. At the end of application the standard deviation of the methods were obtained and compared for determined advantages of methods
SYSTEM IDENTIFICATION USING HAMMERSTEIN MODEL OPTIMIZED WITH ARTIFICIAL BEE COLONY ALGORITHM
Hasan ZORLU
- , 2018,
Abstract: Hammerstein model is formed by cascade of linear and nonlinear parts. In literature, memoryless polynomial nonlinear (MPN) model for nonlinear part and finite impulse response (FIR) model or infinite impulse response (IIR) model for linear part are mostly preferred for Hammerstein models. This paper different from the studies in literature, focuses on the success of Hammerstein block model that Second Order Volterra (SOV) is preferred instead of MPN as nonlinear part. In this context, a new Hammerstein model is presented which is obtained by cascade form of a nonlinear SOV and a linear FIR model. In simulations, different types of system are identified by proposed Hammerstein model which is optimized with ABC (artificial bee colony) algorithm. The simulation results reveal effectiveness and robustness of the proposed model with ABC algorithm
