EL DISCURSO SOBRE EL FENóMENO DE LA MéDIUM UNIDAD EN LAS RELIGIONES AFROCUBANAS
VON WANGENHEIM,HUBERTA;
Revista Colombiana de Antropología , 2009,
Abstract: the purpose of this article is to examine the discourse of practitioners of afrocuban religionsin la havana about the médium unidad, a particular way of perception attributed to the influence of spirits, which plays a key role as a particular way of experiencing the world and reality in cuban society. the concept of médium unidad as a socially constructed practice of perception represents an alternative to ideas and social ways of dealing with such a phenomenon in western-scientific contexts, particularly in biomedical psychiatry which understands it as hallucinatory pathologies. the text attempts to show the role that the médium unidad plays in cuban society by exploring religious discourses and describing afrocuban ritual practice, which assigns it intersubjective meaning and broad social acceptance.
The Biological and Social Determination of Man’s Psychic Development  [PDF]
Fang Wang
Open Journal of Social Sciences (JSS) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/jss.2014.212011
Abstract: Throughout the history of education research, certain views were expressed which considered that the main determining force in an individual’s personality development was the biological factor. On the other hand, there were other experts who underestimated the biological factor and concentrated on the social factor. The struggle between these contradictory views was of long duration. In this article, the author tries to discuss about both the biological determination of personality development and the training of man, and the influence of the social environment on personality development and the training of man.

Open Journal of Urology (OJU) , 2024, DOI: 10.4236/oju.2024.147042
Abstract: Objective: Describe the psychosocial aspects of male infertility at the hospital of the Sino-Guinean Friendship. Patients and method: It is a prospective study of a descriptive type covering a period of 6 months. The study covered 17 patients, all received for a desire to conceive after at least one year of regular sexual intercourse without contraception. The data were collected from patient interviews using a pre-established questionnaire. Results: The average age of the patients was 32.07 years with extremes of 23 years and 42 years. During this study, 64.70% of patients were no longer participating in community ceremonies. The patients’ relationships with their spouse and family deteriorated in 52.94% and 47.06%, respectively. Conversely, relations with the family of origin remained unchanged in 70.59 percent of cases. The reduction in economic activity was by 13 patients (76.48%). Conclusion: Male infertility causes a real psychic earthquake in men with its corollaries of negative feelings. The rather complex moral repercussions of male infertility affect not only the individual, his/her partner, and family, but also economic activity.

Abstract: theoretical study about the bullying and cyberbullying in school and their relationship with the psychic structures of the subjects involved in this practice. the goal is to reflect about bullying's power at school through virtual environments and computer networks, as well as to relate these issues to the psychic structures of the people involved. it is a bibliographic research. as result, we can see that we live in the age of information, with fast changes in social structures and their relationships. therefore, a redefinition of roles, the reconstruction of the ownership exercised by the parameters of daily living, no longer closed and inert. being able to access real time information of all kinds anywhere in the world, as well as its main sources, represents a strong social paradigm shift and provides a future full of possibilities and fluidity, where the information may of today may be the outdated one from tomorrow, in a short period of time. we can easily observe these facts in cyberspace and in trends brought by it, also done by the virtualization relations in social networks.
Winning Consumers through Experience: Competition between Domestic and International Businesses  [PDF]
Yan Liu, Dahai Dong
American Journal of Industrial and Business Management (AJIBM) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/ajibm.2013.33040
Abstract: Retail internationalization has received increasing attention due to its popularity as a business practice. Previous studies have focused on two main factors in the process of retail internationalization: resources and environment. In the resources category, one of the key factors that has been extensively studied is social capital [1]. And in the environment category, one of the most influential environmental factors is cultural distance and its consequence, psychic distance [2]. However, few studies have investigated social capital from the consumers’ perspective and considered the influence of psychic distance perceived by international retailers’ targeted consumers in the host market on their acceptance. This study aims to investigate how to decrease consumers’ psychic distance to obtain initial acceptance from the targeted consumers in the host country. Previous studies have found that perception is shaped through experience [3,4]. Therefore, the main argument in our study is that international businesses should focus on experiential marketing to reduce consumers’ psychic distance. In order to understand this argument in the host market competition, experiential marketing strategies in the domestic businesses framework, as well as in the international businesses framework, will be compared.

Psychology (PSYCH) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/psych.2014.518202
Abstract: The goal of this study is to verify the relationship between adult children’s perception about their parents’ conjugality and these children’s conjugal skills today, as married people. Participants in the study were 472 married Brazilians (217 men and 255 women, M = 41.32 years old, SD = 12.78), with average time of marriage of 14.41 years, SD = 14.95, who responded the self-reported instruments Perception of Parents as a Couple Scale—PPCS and Marital Social Skills Inventory— MSSI. To study the relation between instruments, first a two-factor measurement model for the PPCS and a five-factor measurement model for the MSSI were examined in confirmatory factor analyses. Then, the hypothesized, theoretically derived structural model was tested, depicting path coefficients estimates for regressions from factors of the PPCS onto factors of the MSSI. The overall model presented satisfactory fit indices. Seven out of ten structural path coefficient regression estimates were statistically significant, as well as all item reflective regression estimates for both instruments. Pairs of same-item opposite sign loadings, simultaneously correlated to both PPCS factors were considered logical contradictories. The explicit-implicit concept from cognitive psychology was chosen to account for them, given the theoretically meaningful cross-loading of items between the first factor (“explicit”) and the second one (“implicit”). This is interpreted as indicative of psychological ambivalence in sons and daughters’ perception of parents as a couple. It is concluded that, among a number of aspects the perception of father and mother as a couple the PPCS accounts for, ambivalence is the source of a major influence in current marital social skills.

Abstract: this paper is aimed to show the way in which the term disability is understood going way beyond the biological and natural domains as they are fixed in the common sense. our hypothesis is that the term disability has to be thought in the context of the social relations as well as of the material and symbolic meaning production processes in our society. in this regard our proposal was to trace the roots of the use of that term establishing the historical, social and political conditions which constitute subjects invoking "biological" and "body" supposedly based "in nature" reasons. in doing so, we demónstrate how in that context disability is a category within a classification system which produces subjects, from the idea of a "unique normalcy" that functions as a measure parameter of normal/abnormal, as well as an ideology that legitimizes inequality and asymmetric relationships.
The Behavior of Normality when Iteratively Finding the Normal to a Line in an lp Geometry  [PDF]
Joshua M. Fitzhugh, David L. Farnsworth
Advances in Pure Mathematics (APM) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/apm.2013.38086
Abstract:

The normal direction to the normal direction to a line in Minkowski geometries generally does not give the original line. We show that in lp geometries with p>1 repeatedly finding the normal line through the origin gives sequences of lines that monotonically approach specific lines of symmetry of the unit circle. Which lines of symmetry that are approached depends upon the value of p and the slope of the initial line.

THE SOCIAL CONSTRUCTION OF POLICY TARGETS AND THE INTEREST GROUPS
Lumini?a Gabriela POPESCU
Transylvanian Review of Administrative Sciences , 2007,
Abstract: Frequently the major pressures on the political system are generated by groups that project their objectives and interventions – private interest groups. The presence of these groups in the public arena is considered destructive, and the influences they exercise on the political system are deemed similar to those of corruption. However, political analysts consider that, effects notwithstanding, the presence of interest groups represents an unavoidable cost in any democratic system. A reason for maintaining interest groups is the connection established between citizens and public officials through unions and business, trade or professional associations. The value of such a link may be equivalent to the actual price of the unavoidable distortion that occurs when interest groups are active within the public policy process. The interest groups are certainly too important to be eliminated under the pressure of the myth of corruption.
Structure of Groups with Generalized Normal Subgroups  [PDF]
Mohammad Arshaduzzaman
Advances in Pure Mathematics (APM) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/apm.2014.46035
Abstract:

The present paper deals with a subgroup X of a group G is almost normal if the index |G: NG(X)| is finite, while X is nearly normal if it has finite index in the normal closure XG. This paper investigates the structure of groups in which every (infinite) subgroup is either almost normal or nearly normal.
