Abstract: this essay refers to the route achieved and to some theoretical-practical tools produced for a clinic with old people. the sharing of some concepts that permeate the boundaries between old age and suffering become a very important tool for this clinic, demanding other interventions facing the other ones traditionally achieved, mainly in situation of institutionalization. the proposition of a clinic with old people started from an interest related to this stage of life, more specifically, in relation to the presence of a moral discourse and ways of hegemonic subjectivation that qualify it as a rotten band of life.
“老有所为”:马克思主义人学视域下重塑老年人主体性的意蕴、内涵、路径
“A Meaningful Life in Old Age”: The Implications, Essence, and Pathways of Reshaping Elderly Agency from a Marxist Anthropological Perspective

Aging Research (AR) , 2026, DOI: 10.12677/ar.2026.133029
Anthropological research should address the practical concerns of contemporary individuals. Reshaping elderly agencies within the Marxist anthropological framework entails restoring their rightful status as subjects of historical practice and activating their inherent dynamism, autonomy, and creative potential. Its rich and concrete connotations manifest in the proactive character of older adults’ sustained learning and participation, their awareness of the right to autonomously define their lives and roles, and their unique creativity in transforming experiential wisdom and innovating cultural expressions. Realizing this vision requires a collaboratively advanced social construction: conceptually, achieving a cultural shift from “passive aging” to “active development”; Institutionally, establishing a flexible, inclusive, and robust policy environment; Practically, building diverse, open platforms for intergenerational integration and participation.
What We Think Today on the Interpretation of Dreams, Forgotten and Double Senses  [PDF]
Juan Rodado, Maria J. Rodado
Psychology (PSYCH) , 2018, DOI: 10.4236/psych.2018.94049
Abstract: There are more than a hundred years since the publication of Sigmund Freud’s work “the interpretation of dreams”. How can we take today the ideas that Freud exposes in that text? What can we think of the interpretation of dreams, forgetfulness and double meanings? That is, the ways in which the unconscious is present in the discourse. The following work summarizes the Freudian idea about the storage of memory and about dreams and their rereading in the light of current findings in neuroscience about implicit memory, the re-consolidation of labile memories and the sleep activity that they validate in part and modify Freudian ideas in another.

Aging Research (AR) , 2026, DOI: 10.12677/ar.2026.139654
Against the backdrop of weakening family-based elderly care functions and rural social transformation, this study focuses on the self-initiated “companionship” living practices among the elderly in a village in southwestern Shandong Province. Through qualitative research, it finds that daily interactions centered on shared meals, casual conversations, and collaborative labor not only provide functional support but also serve as crucial means for the elderly to combat loneliness, reconstruct life rhythms, and regain a sense of value. The study reveals that “companionship-based elderly care” is essentially a subjective practice through which the elderly actively construct meaning and demonstrate resilience within limited conditions. This micro-level perspective offers an observational approach to understanding rural elderly care issues by shifting the focus from “institutions” back to “everyday life”, providing insights for building a more humanistic elderly support system.
Depression and Hopelessness in Institutionalized Elderly: A Societal Concern  [PDF]

Open Journal of Depression (OJD) , 2016, DOI: 10.4236/ojd.2016.53003
Abstract: Even though occurrence of depression in older adults is considered a major public health problem, very few Indian studies have made an attempt to study the mental health of elderly residing in institutionalized settings such as nursing homes and old age homes. The purpose of this study is to examine the presence and severity of depression and extent of negative attitudes about the future in institutionalized elderly in India. Data were collected by administering the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) and Beck Hopelessness Scale (BHS) on residents of different old age homes across Delhi NCR (N = 21). Results revealed presence of mild depression and mild hopelessness in the institutionalized elderly. Further, a positive strong correlation was found between depression and hopelessness (Г = 0.83). Social and emotional losses associated with institutionalization are likely to lead to depressive responses in the elderly. The findings of the study draw attention to the neglected and apathetic conditions of institutionalized elderly, an imperative concern for the Indian society.
From Tool Supply to Community Construction: A Study on the Value Reconstruction Path of Community Elder Care Services

Community elderly care services occupy a fundamental position in the strategy to actively respond to population aging. However, current practices commonly face issues such as fragmented service supply, poor cooperation among multiple entities, and the weakening of elderly autonomy, reflecting a deviation in the value orientation of community elderly care services from the “community” concept. The community theory in sociology emphasizes trust, reciprocity, and a sense of belonging among members, providing theoretical resources for the value reconstruction of community elderly care services. This paper re-examines the value positioning and model dilemmas of community elderly care services, proposing that community elderly care services should transcend the logic of instrumental welfare supply and move toward a “community elderly care community” characterized by interaction, reciprocity, and autonomy. It explores the path of value reconstruction of community elderly care services from the dimensions of returning to the subject, collaborative governance, mutual interaction and reciprocity, and precise adaptation.
Aging and the primary cosmetic nasal surgery  [PDF]

Advances in Aging Research (AAR) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/aar.2014.31005
Abstract:

Purpose: The main goal of this article is to review the literature of general health and nasal anatomical-physiological profile of the elderly, prior to considering them as a candidate for primary cosmetic rhinoplasty (PCR). Rhinoplasty is the cosmetic nose’s surgical alteration. Materials and Methods: We extracted the information from internet search engines and the End Note software version X7. Criteria were applied to the most appropriate clinical messages related to the elderly. We focused on their general health status and their nasal anatomicalphysiological considerations prior to consider them for undergoing PCR. Research links were mostly from the Pub Med and the Medline databases. Results: the literature review showed that as people age, their health status and anatomical-physiological components of their nose alter. Their nasal anatomical supports get weaker, and their nasal internal and external physiology undergoes modifications. Functions related to the nasal supports, normal physiology of smell, airway passage, humidification mechanism and their general appearances are affected by age. Conclusion: Cosmetic surgeons must be aware of the aforementioned changes of the patients’ past and present health. Considering performing a complete systemic evaluation and the nasal anatomical-physical examination to assess the degrees of alterations, are crucial pre-operatively.

Our Economy  [PDF]

Modern Economy (ME) , 2011, DOI: 10.4236/me.2011.24063
Abstract: I discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the current predominant approach to macroeconomic modelling of asset prices and suggest an alternative perspective. This alternative rests on the insight that the economy is the result of individual decisions. The industry standard has it, however, that individual action is ruled by objective, general laws instead. Changing the point of view allows to reconcile numerous puzzles and paves the way for a promising new research agenda.
Defining “Context” with Institutions as Fuzzy Rule Bases  [PDF]
Prateek Goorha, Jason Potts
Theoretical Economics Letters (TEL) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/tel.2015.51003
Abstract: We propose considering an institutional context as a fuzzy control system, and, thereby, the role of any given institution to be akin to a database of fuzzy rules. We develop this analogy for a hierarchical institutional system and provide an overview of the method for designing the database structure using a hierarchical system of linguistic rules. This, we submit, is as an interesting way of looking at institutional development with nested institutions.
Exploring (Inter)Subjectivity and Constructional Changes  [PDF]
Xu Yang
Open Journal of Social Sciences (JSS) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/jss.2015.36022
Abstract: Subjectivity is a property of language and it concerns speaker’s expressions of his own evaluation and his imprint shown in an utterance. Inter subjectivity is a derivational form of subjectivity, implicating the speaker’s recognition to the addressee and paying attention to the needs of an addressee’s face and self-image. Subjectivity can prompt the constructional change and bring about constructionalization. This research probes into the politeness realization in daily expressions and proposes that (inter)subjectivity is closely connected with constructional change. Subjectification can be regarded as one of main factors which bring about constructionalization.
