Open Journal of Social Sciences (JSS) , 2022, DOI: 10.4236/jss.2022.1012034
Abstract: It is of great significance to carry out cultural exchanges with France, which is a major and powerful cultural country. Confucius Institutes in France have played a huge role in spreading Chinese culture and promoting people-to-people exchanges between China and France, which can be reflected in the following three aspects: helping to promote the Chinese language and expand the influence of the Chinese language; Promote educational cooperation and exchanges between China and France, and cultivate talents for cultural exchanges between China and France; To enhance understanding and achieve mutually beneficial exchanges between China and France. In the future, it is necessary to continue to reflect on the concept of cultural exchange, and Confucius Institutes should change from “going out” in form to “going in” in connotation, so as to achieve the role of communicating with people through language and culture.
Cultural Diplomacy through the People: A Case Study of the Political Significance of the K-Pop Industry  [PDF]
Emma McCarthy
Open Journal of Political Science (OJPS) , 2026, DOI: 10.4236/ojps.2026.161007
Abstract: Over the past decade, the K-pop industry has experienced unprecedented global growth, transforming Korean music into a central component of South Korea’s cultural and economic influence. However, these effects reach past this into international politics. While previous scholarship has largely focused on “great powers” and their efforts, this paper explores how middle powers, particularly South Korea, utilize cultural industries to expand their global power. Through an extensive examination of the K-Pop industry and its expansion across the globe, as well as a statistical analysis of listening and tourism data, this paper argues that the K-Pop industry has served as a model for industries and nations across the world to use cultural diplomacy to impact political outcomes.

Due to geographical and historical ties, Xinjiang and Kazakhstan share food culture commonalities. With cuisine as a cultural exchange symbol, this study uses comparative analysis to examine English translations of seven similar foods such as Naren, Baursak, Nang, Plov, Horsemeat Sausages, exploring food culture connections and translation impacts on cross-cultural communication. Findings show most translations rely on transliteration, with issues like poor readability, vague food attributes and cultural gaps. It proposes adapting “transliteration” or “transliteration plus free translation” to standardize terms, facilitating cultural dissemination, bilateral exchanges and international cooperation.
Bangladesh–Nepal Trade Relations: Understanding the Influence of Economic Diplomacy
Bashir Ahmed,Mohammad Tarikul Islam
- , 2019, DOI: 10.1177/0973598419828024
Abstract: Abstract Economic diplomacy is one of the most important means through which governments comprehend their national interests. Bangladesh–Nepal bilateral relations, featuring equal and sincere treatment, mutual support and friendship for generations, can be an example for relations between two countries. Nepal’s relationship with Bangladesh is unique. The relations have improved and the major stake in the relationship lies in strengthening the border areas and in improving people-to-people contact and furthering economic relations and trade. Economic and commercial relations between Nepal and Bangladesh have been growing steadily over the years. However, the volume of bilateral trade has not seen much improvement despite tremendous potentials for expanding and diversifying trade between the two countries. Attaching importance to the influence of economic diplomacy, Bangladesh Government has to focus on convincing people, even some of its neighbors, as well as South Asian Free Trade Area (SAFTA) framework of SAARC that Bangladesh offers excellent investment opportunities and that the overall investment climate is conducive to foreign investment. Economic diplomacy of Bangladesh should go beyond political relations and help pave a way for globalization. Nepal and Bangladesh have to keep friendly relations with India because of their similar cultural and religious traditions and geographical attachment

The results: Between 2004 and 2020, 135 players from 28 African countries were recruited to the Chinese Football Association Super League, with the most being 28 from Nigeria. The introduction of African players improves the overall strength of the Chinese Football Association Super League, expands the influence of the Chinese Football Association Super League, and improves the flexibility of professional football clubs in capital allocation. The Chinese Professional Football League provides a job platform for African players and a step for their career development. The introduction of African players by the Chinese Professional Football League has promoted the cultural exchanges and people-to-people bonds between China and Africa, and become a bridge for the future development of China-Africa bilateral cooperation.

Psychology (PSYCH) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/psych.2013.43A041
Abstract:

Based on the original survey “Relating to Older People Evaluation” (ROPE) by Cherry and Palmore (2008), we have elaborated the instrument Evaluation for Older Adults that consists of 20 items. In this project, we intend on studying the positive and negative behaviors which people have been able to inter- nalize during their daily life, as well as a previous psychometric analysis about the validity of the instru- ment. The sample is formed by, on one side, students of Psycho pedagogy, and the other side, older stu- dents that belong to the Class of Experience of the University of Seville. The results obtained suggest that the majority of the people take into consideration the positive behaviors, and both the young and the older adults reinforce the behaviors of and toward the older adults. It is important to highlight the significant differences as far as gender in relation to the internalization of positive behaviors, being more frequent in women than in men. In the discussion, we analyze the implications about social perception towards older people as a social phenomenon, as well as the strategies to reduce the negative behaviors towards older people in daily life.

Abstract: Background: Falls in the elderly are a global public health problem with serious medical and socio-economic consequences, especially in low and middle-income countries. The aim of this study was to describe the characteristics of falls among the elderly in trauma units in Senegal. Materials and Methods: This was a descriptive, prospective study from April 20, 2022 to October 30, 2022 among people aged at least 60 and admitted to the surgical emergency department of Idrissa Pouye Hospital in Dakar following a fall. Socio-demographic, clinical, therapeutic and evolutionary characteristics were collected and analyzed using Sphinx Plus 2 and Excel 2019 for Windows software. Results: Out of 730 elderly people seen during this period, 100 met the criteria, representing a prevalence of 13.69%. The average consultation time was 3.25 +/? 4 days. The average age was 73 +/? 8.43 years, with women predominating (74%). Medical expenses were mainly covered by the family (73%). Most falls occurred during the day (68%), at home (82%), especially in the bedroom (30%), with stumbling (32%) as the main mechanism. The majority of patients (86%) spent less than 30 minutes on the floor. Predisposing factors were dominated by visual disorders (56%) and precipitating factors were mainly environmental (62%). Geriatric syndromes were dominated by frailty (22%). Complications were dominated by fractures (86%), and almost half (47%) had lost their autonomy for post-fall Activities Daily Living (ADL). Prescription medication was almost systematic (98%), dominated by analgesics (98%). Surgery was indicated in 58% of patients. The average waiting time for surgery was 25.36 +/? 19 days. A death rate of 1% was recorded in the emergency department. Conclusion: Falls in the elderly are a frequent occurrence in traumatological emergencies, with etiological factors that are often multiple and interrelated, leading to significant morbidity. Raising awareness among people at risk and setting up an orthogeriatric service would help prevent falls and optimize care in the short and long term.
