divine punishment is based on the transgression of the moral code established between god and his people. all sort of divine punishments appears in the scriptural and sacred texts of the hebrew and christian religions. they were represented in pictorial images taht were used by the christian church as a warning message to correct human behaviour. this study analyses the different sources that could influence the production of the punitive images of beato de frenando i y sancha in the christian kingdom of castilla- león in the nid- eleventh century.
