唐代平定高昌后，在其故地设置西州，首次将西域纳入中原王朝的治理体系。唐廷将中原制度全面推行至西州，通过兴学校、开科举等举措展开对西州的文化治理，大力推动儒家文化在西州的发展。在唐王朝的治理之下，儒家文化跨越地理和族群的界限，深度融入西州社会，使中原与西域在文化上紧密地联系在一起。
During the Tang Dynasty, after pacifying Gao Chang, the court established Xi Zhou on its former territory, marking the first time the Western Regions were incorporated into the governance system of the Central Plains dynasty. The Tang court fully implemented the institutions of the Central Plains in Xi Zhou, carried out cultural governance through measures such as building schools and holding imperial examinations, and vigorously promoted the development of Confucian culture there. Under the governance of the Tang Dynasty, Confucian culture crossed geographical and ethnic boundaries, deeply integrated into Xi Zhou society, and closely connected the Central Plains and the Western Regions culturally.
