AS FUN ES DA LINGUAGEM NOS CH@TS: O “INTERNETêS” NUMA ABORDAGEM FUNCIONALISTA

For a long time the communication has experienced a great process of evolution, which provides a large exchange between individuals. Today, great advances came about mainly due to information technology. Through these innovations new genres of texts come up at every moment to supply their communicative needs. It demands that we become updated and follow these changes, as well as we join to the process of digital literacy. Blogs, websites, chat rooms, forums, e-mails, among others, are the newest ways to interact with the contemporary world. The language used in these types of genres is known as Internetês. It is characterized by containing the codes and it is widely used by young people, who search for to innovating their ways of communication. So, this paper aims to analyze and understand the environment of Internet chat. Through a functionalist approach, we aim to identify and interpret the functions of language present in this environment of virtual communication.
