The personal injury compensation in EU law: the attempt at an European harmonization starting from the Resolution of the Councile of Europe 7-75.DOI: 10.7362/2240-2594.026.2012 Keywords: personal injuries , compensation , harmonization Abstract: In personal injury cases, the compensation for the damage, is an open question continuously bated for the interest it arouses both nationally and internationally. The different cultural, legal and socio-economic backgrounds, that distinguish the European Union States, have not allowed the creation of a single model to be adopted for the compensation of health damages. The debate started in the mid-seventies, when in the European context the need to unify, or at least standardize the system of personal injury compensation was perceived. Even today, groups of experts are still dealing with the issue but, despite the many proposals, uniformity of damages appears unattainable.
