A hypothetic aging pathway from skin to hypothalamic suprachiasmatic nucleus via slow wave sleep

Zi-Jian Cai
Many observations have demonstrated that the hypothalamic neuroendocrine change determines the chronological sequence of aging in mammals. However, it remains uncertain on the mechanism to account for the hypothalamic aging manifestations. In this article, it is pointed out that, as constantly exposed to sunshine and oxygen, the skin would undergo both telomere-shortening and oxidative senescent processes. The senescent alterations of skin, such as attenuation in electrodermal activities, would ...

Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy(Left Ventricular Ballooning Syndrome) Induced During Dobutamine Stress Echocardiography

N. Elazaoui, H.Lardoux, R.Habbal
Takotsubo cardiomyopathy is increasingly recognised as a syndrome, usually provoked by severe mental stress and associated with acute "ballooning" or dyskinesis of the left ventricle. Although the etiology of takotsubo syndrome remain obscure, catecholamines release appears to be principal trigger. This case illustrates how the use of catecholamines stressors in an already anxious patient induced in acute Takotsubo syndrome mimicking acute myocardial infarction. It is likely that other cases of ...
