the paper aims to provide possible uses of bakhtin's philosophy of language in the document analysis, in the investigation of the history of psychology and other fields. insofar as bakhtinian’s proposals involves indetermination, duplication and ambiguity, it is remarked his propositions should not be conceived as fixed and permanent rules to be applied to a subject as a way to reveal it. therefore the method and subject should be created each and every investigation. this paper shows concisely the main proposals of his philosophy of language, the problems of authorship, themes, discursive genres and the risks of static and/or displaced analysis of the themes.
