Abstract:

despite exceptions, full access and integration of disable people into the labour market is far from being an accomplished goal; numerous physical and mental-?social barriers to their incorporation into some organizations or certain jobs and roles still remain solid. work centers, jobs, and tasks designed and adapted to disabled people might provide possibilities of full integration in the workforce for this collective, as well as give them the opportunity to develop positive relationships with organizations and positive work attitudes. this study aims at analysing effects of opportunities of incorporation and integration into the labour market on: 1) psychological contract? development (that is expected to present a relational orientation); and 2) work attitudes - commit-ment, job involvement, satisfaction and continuance in the organization - (which are expected to be positive). quantitative data were collected from a cross sec-tional-?survey study on a sample of 46 call/contact center employees with physical and sensory disabilities. in order to obtain complementary insight from qualitative data, a focus group of nine employees was conducted. results describe disabled workers? relationships with their organization and orientation of their work attitudes. in addition, this paper explores the possible positive effects for organizations and for individuals derived from employability of this collective, barely studied and object of frequent labour discriminations.
