De Espa？a a América: Recategorización y desplazamientos en el sistema de clíticos

this paper has two goals, one is theoretical and the other is empirical; the first one is based on the second. from a theoretical point of view, we set the boundaries for "linguistic drift" as the consequence of idiosyncrasy in language paradigms, and speakers' cognitive potentialities. thus, it can be distinguished from recategorization processes. the linguistic analysis of some examples illustrates this difference by contrasting the innovative spanish clitic system (garcía 1986,1992; klein-andreu 1999) with the argentinean system whose "drifts" account for the current meaning of ethymological forms (martínez 2000,2008,2010).
