Tradición y rock nacional: El caso de La Renga

the purpose of this work is to reflect about the use of tradition in argentine rock nacional as a resource to take place in the actual cultural relations. we consider discourses and performances of the group la renga to think about how relations between a significant past and the present are constructed. the appeal to the past is done in two directions: as concerns to the history of rock nacional and to the history of the group. though the disputes about what is rock have been present since the emergence of the phenomenon, this disputes are intensified in a context of expansion of rock′s market. in this situation, to recur to the past is a strategy to indicate a distance from cultural industry.
