the present article exposes medical discourse as an analysis axis to justify disease's social construction, as it is considered to socially validate and legitimate explanations that are formulated from the disease as a biological phenomenon. such is the case of venereal syphilis, which in the last years of xv and xvi century proliferates in europe and the recent discovered america.
