Abstract: the present article raises a descriptive analysis from a political optics, oriented to generate a measurement of the quality of democracy from a compared perspective, considering political communication like a relevant driver in the representation and legitimacy of the political system and therefore in the quality of democracy. the author contextualises the democratic process at the end of the frst decade of the 21st century to approach then the issue of democracy quality and its measurement from the political communication as a core element in the profit of this quality.
