Abstract:

in numerous opportunities, researchers in the social sciences are compelled to justify their scientific work. where does this need originate? why does the demand to demonstrate the validity of scientific knowledge rise? this work refers to the traditional confrontation between natural sciences and social sciences that has become an epistemologic obstacle. it analyses the object of study, the methodology and the way in which each one of them seizes knowledge. it refers to the socio-historical conditions which devalue human interaction. the outlining is centered in the consideration of intersubjectivity as a proposal that finds a solution to the subject-object splitting and postulates participative methodology to know and register different and varied social realities in which the researchers become involved in others' lives. it proposes the "workshop with families" within school environment as a participative strategy - access way to the representations families build on their children's schooling- and, at the same time, it regains parent's interactions among themselves, between parents and the research team and the members of the interdisciplinary team themselves. it allows to set a democratic atmosphere in school life.
