Crisis social y reavivamiento religioso: Una mirada desde lo sociocultural

the deep and accelerated changes that took place in cuba from the 1990 and onward created favorable conditions for a religious revitalization which, together with complex national and international factors have assumed extremely varied forms during the almost twenty years that have passed since then. there is no doubt that in situations of crisis, where dissatisfaction, disorientation and a feeling of helplessness prevail, the religious factor gains force, and people increasingly seek explanation, support, hope, help and answers in the supernatural powers against the unknown. in the cuban case, the religious factor came to express and reflect the impact of these changes, assigning them new significance anchored in the religious faith. the text that is presented here explores the interrelation between social transformations and religious dynamics, in the framework of the global socio-cultural context in which this process takes place.
