Abstract:

the aim of this work was to evaluate the moisture influence in hermetic and conventional systems on the white oat grains (avena sativa l ) conservation during twelve months of storage and to indicate quality parameters. the cultivar of upf 18 produced in 2001, was harvested with 16% of moisture and was reduced to 14%, 11% and 8% using a stationary drying in a dryer prototype. the grains were stored in hermetic and conventional systems and determinations of moisture, lipids, acid value, germination, vigor and fungi contamination were accomplished at 0, 3, 6, 9 and 12 months of storage. the residual activity of lipase and peroxidase enzymes was realized after the grains dry (initial time) and the fatty acids composition and mycotoxins at 2 and 12 months of storage. the results were analyzed by variance analysis and multiple comparison by tukey?s test. the hermetic and conventional storage systems are efficient to the oat grains conservation with moisture until 14%. the acid value increase during the storage was less in the hermetic system than in the conventional one. the incidence of field and storage fungi increased in the three months period. the presence of b1, b2, g1 and g2 aflatoxins, ochratoxin a and zearalenone were not detected in oat grains stored for 12 months.
