this paper stems from our master's degree research. based on documents of the funda？？o casa (youth detention centers) and interviews with ex-inmates, teachers and officers of the detention center in araraquara (sp), it discusses the use of the professionalizing workshops offered to youths as a possibility of social reintegration.
