Abstract:

the anthurium ?nicoya? is a highly marketable ornamental species as both flower pot and cut flower. the objective of this work was to study the clonal multiplication of this species, from in vitro grown shoots. the process was developed in three phases: a) sprout multiplication, grown in murashige and skoog basal salt mixture (ms): thiamine 0.5 mg·l-1; nicotinic acid 0.5 mg·l-1; pyridoxine 0.5 mg·l-1; inositol 100 mg·l-1; glycine 2 mg·l-1; sucrose 3 %, and development regulators: benzyladenine (ba) at doses of 1 and 2 mg·l-1 in combination with naphthataleneacetic acid (naa) at 0; 0.01; and 0.1 mg·l-1. the highest multiplication rate was obtained after 2-months cultivation with ba 1 mg·l-1, free from auxins. b) shoot rooting, where four doses of naa were tested 0, 0.1, 0.25 and 0.5 mg·l-1. the rooting process occurred in all treatments, incrementing the number and length of the roots when ms 0.1 mg·l-1 of naa was added to the medium. c) acclimatization of ex vitro plants, which was conducted under two environmental conditions: mist and humid chamber. the survival rate of ex vitro plants after 15 days was higher than 70 % under both conditions, although the plantlets acclimatized in the humid chamber showed a better appearance. this study allowed us to establish protocols for obtaining in vitro plans of the targeted species.
