Abstract: when the space of the beach began to be seen as entertainment site available to disadvantaged groups, bodies are exposed to the dilemma of what could be displayed and what to hide. this involved the development of new experiences, subject to the interests of dominant groups, both in relation to the terms of enjoying the space as to preserve modesty and decency. in this vein, it is proposed to investigate some of the methods used to publicize and promote hegemonic female representations, through forms of exposure-concealment of the body and through the modalities of social relations between the sexes. fashions in dress and behavior were needed to regulate the aesthetic and bodily dispositions of women from a desirable appearance. and the print media, through the symbolism in the image or allusion in written texts, was an ideal way to make intelligible the ideas and values projected onto women's bodie
