asepsis, sterilization and prevention seem to be the axis of the big progresses of medicine in the xxth century. in the last decades, latex appeared as a preventive element, widely used because of its characteristics but as a consequence, a new pathology with an increasing epidemic role with manifestations that can be fatal emerged. although the description of the first cases dates from several decades ago the fact is ignored by most of the pediatricians. the knowledge of the risk groups, their appropriate evaluation and preventive measures represent the basic concepts for the management of this pathology.
