Abstract: a patient is described with hypocalcemic seizures secondary to vitamin d deficiency. the patient was the youngest child of the family (twelve siblings). his mother was deficient in vitamin d, too. the treatment with calcium and vitamin d normalized the clinical and biochemical parameters. an early diagnosis by means of physical examination, laboratory and x ray not only is essential at the beginning of the treatment with vitamin d, but throughout the follow-up. prevention is an important tool for avoiding the increasing number of cases of this pathology.
