Caracterización de competencias informacionales en estudiantes del Policlínico Docente Meneses. 2010Keywords: informational competence, information skills, informational alphabetization, students. Abstract: introduction: developing information literacy involves implementing elements considered essential in today's world, that correspond with the whole process of education, which involves knowledge, skills and attitudes. objective: characterize the information skills that students possess in the meneses university clinic during the may-november 2010 term. method: we carried out a cross-sectional study among a sample of 70 students. we used the following variables: ability to find information, access to information they need, information needs, handling which give to information, and ethical aspects that norm the use of information. the main results indicated that: in 42.8%, the personal skills to find information were limited; the 47.1% went to search the bibliographic information in the library, while 47.1% of students identified their needs regular, 75.7% reported having an adequate management of information and 94.3% have raised no ethical concerns about the use of information. conclusions: personal skills of students to find academic information are limited; most of them have access to search the bibliographic information academic library which shows that the book remains a subject of vital importance. students are totally unaware of the ethical issues that govern the use and management of information.
