Abstract:

was studied comparatively, the chemical composition of the bark of e. saligna smith, corymbia citriodora and e. pellita f. muell to three heights of the commercial bole (25%; 55%; 85%) in samples coming from the integral forest companies (efi) of macurije and guanahacabibes in the county of pinar del río, cuba. the results obtained of the chemical composition were processed by means of the statistical program spss for windows, where not all the analyzed variables showed statistical influences in the chemical characterization of the bark of these species. the results manifest a better grouping with respect to the species that to the height of the commercial bole among the species, showing the great variability of the chemical composition of the bark among these species the bark of e. saligna smith presents the biggest contents of soluble substances in water at 95oc, ethanol to 95%, holocelluloses, soluble substances in naoh at 1% and in hexane, followed by the corymbia citriodora and e. pellita f. muell the, being the most attractive species from the chemical point of view how tannin raw material to be used in the industry.
