the need for ensuring a closer alignment between the strategic planning process at the polytechnic university of havana “josé antonio echeverría” and the university management is a premise for achieving the proper integration of essential processes and the mission, vision and strategies identified for 2011-2015. the objective of this investigation is to establish the procedure for developing the strategic planning process at the above mentioned institution, in order to achieve the management of substantive processes, taking into account the strategies and the defined key result areas (kra). the methods used are: the group work, analysis of reports and documents and the implementation of applicable regulations. the main results are obtained from the accomplished design, which allows working all the elements of university management in an integrated way. the conclusions reflect the results obtained by matching the substantive processes and the kra, strategies and result plans of workers and professors.
