Predicción del número de cetano de biocombustibles a partir de su composición de ácidos grasos

the cetane number is one of the main properties for characterization of the ignition quality of a fuel for its use in a diesel engine. the cetane number of biofuels obtained from different vegetable oils is strongly considerably by their fatty acid composition. the scope of this research is to obtain two physical-mathematical models that establish a relationship between the cetane number and the composition of different biofuels derived from vegetable oils. the models were developed using an analysis of multiple regression, based on experimental data available in the literature. the coefficients adjustment of the model was based on the obtaining of lower residual in the capacity of prediction of the model. a partial validation of the model was developed. starting from these results it a very useful tool for the determination of such an important parameter was established.
