Depredación del jaguar (Panthera onca) sobre el ganado en los llanos orientales de Colombia

some aspects of jaguar attacks on livestock were characterized through inter-views in the municipality of puerto carre？o (dept. vichada, colombia). the most predated species was the domestic pig (90%, n = 54), followed by horses (6.8%, n = 5) and cattle (1.7%, n = 1). jaguar selected pigs against other species (?2=103.9; df=1, p<0.0001) and also selected forest against the savannah for their attacks (?2= 15.5, df=1, p<0.0001). jag-uars were killed in 42% of the ranches evaluated. measures to reduce attacks on domestic livestock are suggested.
