Abstract: cardiovascular disease atherosclerotic disease (cae) is the leading cause of death worldwide; evidence indicates the start of the process in childhood. food and lifestyle habits lead to development of dyslipidemia, hypertension, and obesity, cae-related entities. this revision aims to point out the characteristics of current eating habits of children that have impact on the genesis of this pathology as to type of fat consumed, consumption of carbohydrates, poor intake of fruits and vegetables and high salt consumption, including studies that reflect these characteristics and their impact in the lipid profile, even without changes in body mass index. the influence of low birth, weight, rapid progression of weight after birth and the of use milk formulas as potential contributors to obesity. it also refers to the benefits of physical activity in cardiovascular health. it is necessary to identify the groups most at risk in order to modify habits and minimize the consequences.
