Abstract: this article analyzes the perceptions and interpretations of young male and female university students of guadalajara about the body, sexuality and gender. according to their life experiences, their families and school are two fundamental spaces where the significances of being a man or a woman, as well as the way they should live their sexuality, are built. throughout their lives, youngsters accept some of the roles assigned to them in their families and schools, but they also question or transgress others. this allows us to discern processes oriented towards change or towards continuing to reproduce gender and sexuality schemes among youngsters.
