?Historia no es destino? Masculinidades juveniles tabasque?as contemporáneasKeywords: social change, generational change, generic order, hegemonic masculinity, generic democracy. Abstract: based on a representative survey conducted in 2008, this article analyzes the directions of the changes and maintenance of a gendered order, its practices, representations and values, as well as gender and generational relationships among young people in the state of tabasco. it is assumed that social groups (of young people) are reinvented over time, and it is therefore important to document these changes. we conclude that this reinvention is not completely independent of context, or due to some mysterious social autopoietic mechanism: the changes are complex and involve social conditions of possibility, revolving around the family as a generic and gendered institution.
