Metodología cualitativa: varios problemas y reiteradas omisiones

from recognize the important contributions of the approaches and qualitative techniques to the study and intervention on health/illness/attention-prevention processes, this article drew and analyzes the domain of certain guidelines which have a negative impact or, at least, generated certain biases in quality production, which tend to exclude substantive aspects of the studied reality. the main analyzed here are as follows: a) the denial or, at least, a reluctance to make hypothesis, including interpretative ones; b) tendency to simplify increasingly qualitative techniques; c) the limited use of one of the main qualitative techniques, as in the case of observation, although participant observation is usually mentioned; d) trend strong to work almost exclusively with the social representations, discourses, narratives and/or experiences, leaving aside practices or assuming that the representations are equivalent to practices.
