the investigation in nursing, in spite of its difficulties and limitations, has an extensive tradition in spain. however, until the last decade it has not been elaborated an important number of doctoral theses that develop matters about nursing, in the spanish universities. among them, as well, a very low number is dedicated to the history of the nursing. the explanation is in the action line followed by the spanish academic organization, which in addition did not recognize the word "nursing" in the investigation descriptors. we finalize the work studing the main lines of investigation in history of the nursing that have appeared in the last years.
