Abstract:

the categories "critical thinking" and "life's world" come from different philosophical traditions. the former had its origin in the field of the critical theory of ideologies; the latter, within the frame of phenomenological-hermeneutic thinking, thought it has been reinstalled during the last two decades as a central issue in habermas's theory of communicative action. this work intends to contribute to the outlining of a close bond between both categories, in order to show that the interchange between them could fruitfully respond to the question of latin american and academic philosophy. it would also permit the deepening of the growing use of "life's world" by intercultural philosophy and by comprehensive social sciences regarding the important role of different cultural contexts in knowledge production. thus, two questions could be enlightened: one of intellectual nature-where critical thinking and life's world issues emerge within the contemporary philosophical debate-, and one related to the sociopolitical experience in which knowledge academic practices occur.
