Abstract: this paper addresses the study of a political institutional developments in bolivia between 1975 to 2005, with a descriptive analysis of the process that embraces the democratic system of government, including the political system, the electoral system, political parties and mechanisms for participation of the citizens; the judicial system; fundamental rights and the defense mechanisms of the constitution, to identify the unique aspects of this process of evolution, and the study concludes with a reflection of the progress and threats to democracy.
