Abstract:

salix bonplandiana kunth, a tree species native to the valley of méxico, is used fot reforestation; its branches in basketry and ornaments, its wood fot building barns, and its leaves as fodder. it is therefore important to identify the causative agents of diseases that affect its development. to detetmine the causative agent that produces cankers on branches of s. bonplandiana, isolates were conducted as well as pathogenicity tests. the collected samples of stems and branches with cankers were planted on pda and incubated fot 72 h at 25 °c. the fungus was putified and tested fot pathogenicity in thtee tteatments: tl) lesions on branches of s. bonplandiana which was inoculated with a suspension of 1xl106 conidia ml-1 of the fungus; t2) lesions inoculated with sterile distilled water; and t3) absolute control. the first cankers of the disease were observed in t1 and t2, lid after inoculation. from these cankers the fungus alternaria tenuissima (kunze ex pers) wiltshire was reisolated with characteristics equal to the initial inoculum. in addition, the rdna-its sequencing showed 99 % homology with the sequence of a. tenuissima reported in the ncbi-genbank.
