LA DISOLUCIóN DE LA SOBERANíA EN EL áMBITO ESTATAL: LOS EFECTOS DE LA INTEGRACIóN EUROPEA

nowadays, state sovereignty is being challenged by the existence of two different phenomena. first, the process of european integration. the eu absorbs more competence over which claims the ultimate decision power in order to achieve a uniform application of law in all member states. secondly, most member states are witnessing a process of decentralization in its interior. paradoxically, both processes influence each other reciprocally. in the modern constitutional state, the only possible sovereign is the people. so, to witness state sovereignty implies therefore negative consequences for democracy.
