Abstract:

soil physical management implies the optimization, near the plant root zone (plant rhizosphere), of the physical properties such as: structure, porosity, infiltration, and water retention, among others. these characteristics are important for the sustained management of the soil and for the identification of soil physical indicators. for that reason the agroecosystem faba bean-corn-dry bean rotation, under conservation tillage, was evaluated in order to know the physical indicators throughout the physical and chemical soil properties related to crop yield. the research was conducted at the colegio de posgraduados, texcoco, state of mexico during 2006. measured soil properties were: mechanic resistance, bulk density, organic matter, electric conductivity, porosity, distribution of particle size, usable moisture, saturated and residual, saturated hydraulic conductivity, accumulated infiltration and sorbility. likewise, faba bean, corn and common bean seed yield, were measured. data were analyzed throughout multiple and simple regression analysis. results indicate that organic matter content and saturated hydraulic conductivity are the soil indicators that define seed yield in the three studied crops under conservation tillage.
