Nuevos reportes de la familia Orchidaceae para la región nororiental de Venezuela, con énfasis en el estado SucreKeywords: orchidaceae, new reports, state sucre, northeastern, venezuela. Abstract: the orchidaceae comprises more than 19000 species, which make it one of the most diverse families of vascular plants. in venezuela, this family is represent by ca. 1612 species, most of them from cordillera andina and guayana. in the northwest region (states anzoátegui, monagas and sucre), up to the present, the approximate number of existent species is not know; although explorations to know the situation of the family are in course. this paper presents new reports of orchidaceae for the norwest of venezuela, with emphasis on sucre state. herbaria uoj, irbr and ven were studied between 2006 and 2007. field explorations were undertaken in 12 localities. in this paper, new report is specie without samples in ven and not mentioned for sucre or the rest of the states of the norwest in the references. as a result, 11 species are new to sucre state, of these 6 are new to the norwest: beloglottis costaricensis (rchb. f.) schltr., habenaria alata hook, ornithocephalus bonplandii rchb. f., pleurothallis velaticaulis rchb. f., sauvetrea alpestris (lindl.) szlach., sobralia sessilis lindl. additionally, short descriptions and line drawings are present for some species.
