this paper proposes a reading of some passages from barthes' autobiographical scheme in roland barthes by roland barthes (1975), according to notions present in paul de man's essay "autobiography as defacement" (1979). by relying on the figures of rhetoric, one of them; and by reformulating lacan's categories, the other; both reflections constitute theories of reading, which discuss at least two variables often present in the interventions of the theoretical field: the category of genre and the notion of subject.
