LA RELOCALIZACION COMO UNA HERRAMIENTA DE CONSERVACION Y MANEJO DE LA BIODIVERSIDAD: LECCIONES APRENDIDAS CON DIPLODON CHILENSIS (GRAY 1828) (BIVALVIA, HYRIIDAE)

we deliver some lessons learned from a long-term relocation project, carried out in the hyriid diplodon chilensis. the present document analyses the causes of the declination of these populations in chile and the use of relocation as a strategy of aquatic biodiversity conservation and management. these lessons analyze the regards we have to caution before, during and after the process of relocation of a population and the ecological, sanitary and evolutive implications of the relocation programs. we conclude that relocation is a valuable tool for conservation and management of freshwater mussel populations and feasible to carry out successfully taking into account the considerations pointed out previously
