this essay analyzes the love poetry of two of the most significant author of the group of mexican writers called contemporáneos: xavier villaurrutia y gilberto owen. while in owen love is seen as a journey that tragically ends in shipwreck, in villaurrutia love is like a statue made of stone. the text analyzes briefly the most significative elements of the love poems of both authors.
