Abstract:

the article represents a qualitative study elaborated through the context of the universidad de carabobo, venezuela. the primary theoretical reference is the mathematical cognition onto-semiotic approach (osa), which considers that the global fitness of a process of study can be obtained through a set of criteria, called ?fitness criteria?. the purpose is centered into the appraisal of the teachers? perspectives about the possibility of a change of the topic ?functions? within the teaching-learning process, oriented towards contextualized mathematics. the results show to the college community how can be approached -through the qualitative paradigm and the onto-semiotic approach- a problem within the universitary environment. besides, becomes evident the powerful strength of the fitness criteria as instruments of evaluation in the search for a consensus.
