Abstract:

this paper presents a proposal for assigning homework that facilitates the learning of mathematics for freshmen students. the study has two main objectives: i) to analyze the features that must include a homework of math so it can be considered as a good learning opportunity for students; and ii) to analyze the work of a group of twenty students of the first semester of an engineering course. for the analysis, the work of the student in the tasks assigned was classified considering the similitude between the school assignments. the results show that the learning process of the students is favoured when there is a clear relation between the cognitive demands of the homework, the math content of the problems and the academic objectives of the course.
