Determinantes del flujo de remesas en México, un análisis empírico

this paper analyzes the relationship between workers' remittances to mexico and a group of macroeconomic variables. we review the theoretical literature on the determinants of international workers' remittances and then posit a hypothesis that is analyzed through a vector-error correction model to identify workers' remittances long-run determinants. empirical results indicate that investment decisions are more important than altruistic motives to remit. we also find a significantly inverse relationship between the number of migrant and remittances that could be an indicator that migration to the usa is of long-term or permanent.
