Descubriendo las reglas del juego de la argumentación

Abstract:

in this paper it is presented a proposal and an educational experience that was developed with first high school course students (16-17 years old) and also with adults enrolled in popular universities. the aim of the project is to turn the class into a community of rational thinkers who work together to construct, through rigorous dialogue, thoughts and arguments on philosophical issues, to attaint this purpose, the participants, in such community, must work hard to discuss their different points of view, trying to justify them with good reasons, which have pretension of inter-subjetive validity. however, in order to discuss these issues well it is necessary to be acquainted with the rules of this linguistic game, of which, traditionally, logic has occupied a key role. we are proposing that the students get involved in an investigation, whose objective is the discovery of the rules of both formal and informal logic. the investigation should come from the analysis and discussion of concrete arguments, acquired in specific speech contexts where significant problems arise for them, which traditionally form a part of introductory philosophy courses.
