the need to comprehend is essential for arendt. this is the reason why she attempts to compensate the broken thread of traditions through the restoration of the world within a higher ethical purpose: amor mundi. this restoration seems to have a double origin: jewish (tikkun olam) and christian (amor mundi) traditions articulating with each other when they get together in a subtle and secretive way in arendtian thinking. arendt′s theorical claim of a restored world is possible by initiating human action which looks at the past and understands it, remembers it and remove its burden through forgiveness, repairing what exists, and then, heading for the future with promises proving hope of a new beginning.
