Abstract:

introduction: the national early childhood intervention (snipi) includes local intervention teams (elis). aims: description of the legal background, constitution, skills, and functions of elis in general, and particularly in eli porto ocidental. methodology: description of eli porto ocidental and des-criptive analysis of children / families supported. the following parameters were reviewed: sex, age, referral and admission reasons, type and context of intervention, and case manager statistical program spss? version 20 was used in the treatment of data. results: of the 77 children in support of eli porto ociden-tal, 52 (67.5%) are male, 15 (19.5%) have less than 36 months of age, 48 (62.4%) are being directly supported, 15 (19.5%) are under surveillance and 14 (18.2%) are being admitted. the reasons of referral and admission in 76 (98.7%) children are the alteration of body function or structure and in one case (1.3%) exposition to more than 4 environmental/familiar risk factors. in regard to the distribution of children who are being directly su-pported or who are under surveillance (n=63), the case manager in 29 (46,0%) of the cases is the kindergarten teacher, in 12 (19,0%) the psychologist, in 10 (15,9%) the social worker, in 6 (9,5%) the physiotherapist, in 5 (7,9%) the occupational therapist, and in one case (1,6%) is the pediatrician. conclusions: the elis, multidisciplinary teams with transdisciplinary functioning, develop and apply the local intervention of snipi. the eli porto ocidental, despite its recent formation, gives support to a great number of children and families
