Remoción de nutrientes en un reactor discontinuo secuencialKeywords: desnitrificación, nitrificación, reactor discontinuo secuencial , remoción biológica de fósforo . Abstract: the high concentration of nutrients in non-treated effluents may have negative effects on water bodies where they are poured, as they stimulate the growth of algae and plants, and interfere with the beneficial uses of the hydraulic resources, specially when used for water supply, fish cultivation and recreation. a sequential batch reactor (sbr) was used at pilot scale, with a volume of 2000 liters, to study the biological removal of nutrients from domestic residual water. the sequence of stages of operation in a cycle of the reactor consisted of filling, anaerobic, aerobic and anoxic mixing, sedimentation and draining. the measured parameters were chemical oxygen demand (cod), biochemical oxygen demand of oxygen (bod), total kjeldahl nitrogen (tkn), nitrite (n-no2-), nitrate (n-no3-), ammonia nitrogen (n-nh3), ph, temperature, total phosphorus (tp), total suspended solids (tss) and volatile suspended solids (vss), in the different stages of each cycle of evaluation. the cycle that showed the best results was that consisting of 1h of anaerobic mixing, 6h of aerobic mixing and 16h of anoxic mixing, obtaining average removals of 85% for cod, 92% for bod, 52% for tn, 65% n-no3- and 67% tp. the results confirmed the usefulness and applicability of the sbr for the removal of organic matter and nutrients from domestic residual wastewater.
