The Revelation of Delphic Oracle from the “Apology”—The Wisdom of “Self-Knowledge and Ignorance”

《申辩篇》是柏拉图早期对话的杰出代表，记录了苏格拉底受审的过程。德尔斐神谕作为古希腊最具权威的宗教预言，是神与人沟通的媒介，对社会多方面产生深远影响，后因多种原因衰落。苏格拉底在申辩中巧妙引用神谕，证明自己无罪、具有神的智慧并为使命辩护。他领悟到“自知无知”的智慧，即认识到自身知识的局限。“自知无知”启示我们学会反思，审视生活以深入了解自己；学会独立思考，不随波逐流；学会质疑，对权威和传统保持开放态度。
The “Apology” is an outstanding representative of Plato’s early dialogues, recording the process of Socrates’ trial. The Delphic oracle, as the most authoritative religious prophecy in ancient Greece, was a medium of communication between gods and humans, and had a profound impact on various aspects of society. However, it declined due to various reasons. Socrates cleverly quoted the oracle in his defense, proving his innocence, possessing divine wisdom, and defending his mission. He realized the wisdom of “self-knowledge and ignorance”, which means recognizing the limitations of his own knowledge. The concept of “self-knowledge and ignorance” inspires us to learn to reflect and examine our lives in order to gain a deeper understanding of ourselves. It encourages us to think independently, rather than going with the flow, and to question things, maintaining an open attitude towards authority and tradition.
